"Had No Idea About The appointment As The Governor of Telangana" Said Jishnu Dev Varma

Former Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura Jishnu Dev Verma said that before the announcement that he will be appointed as the new Governor of Telangana he had no idea about this.

He said that after announcement he was getting repeated calls from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. 

Let us tell you that Dev Verma lost the assembly elections from Charilam in Sipahijala district last year. He is the first person from Tripura to be made the Governor of a state.

BJP leader Jishnu Dev Varma told reporters, "I had no idea that I would be appointed as the Governor of Telangana until PM Modi called me on Saturday. He (PM Modi) told me that I will have to work outside Tripura. I said that I am ready to work on whatever responsibility is given to me."

Dev Varma further said, "A few hours after this, I got a call from Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. He told me welcome to Telangana. At that time I came to know that I am going to become the new Governor of Telangana." He told that he will reach Telangana on 31st July and will take oath as Governor. 

Dev Varma further said, "Earlier I fulfilled my duty as Deputy CM, which was a political post. Now I am going to fulfill my constitutional duty. I will work in coordination with the Chief Minister, so that the Constitution works properly."

Let us tell you that Dev Varma belongs to a former royal family of Tripura. He praised PM Modi. The BJP leader said, "PM Modi visits Tripura even when there are no elections. When I was the Deputy CM and I had departments like Finance, Rural Development and Electricity, the PM helped me. This is the first time that someone from Tripura is going to take oath as the Governor."

He further said, "Tripura is the state where I was born and brought up. I started my political career from this small state. Now when I leave for Telangana, I will try my best to help my state by exchanging ideas and sharing experiences." Dev Varma was appointed the new Governor of Telangana on Saturday night
