More than 2 years have passed since the Russia-Ukraine war. This fierce war, which started in February 2022, has turned two beautiful countries Ukraine and Russia into ruins.
Meanwhile, now Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that he is proposing to hold a summit in India to end the war with Russia.
During his visit to Ukraine last week, this proposal was put before the Prime Minister Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In fact, the target of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is to organize a second meeting of the leaders before the US presidential election in November. Which will happen in the summit to be held in June, in which the support of the countries is to be gained for Kiev in its two and a half year war with Russia.
However, there are concerns about the meeting being held in India as it does not include Russia so far.
Sources say Prime Minister Modi, who indicated his support for Ukrainian sovereignty within internationally recognised borders during his visit on August 23, has not yet agreed to host the meeting.
On the Ukraine issue, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, "We have always advocated constructive, resolvable and pragmatic engagement with all stakeholders to find a negotiated solution to this conflict. This is evident from our outreach at the highest levels to both Russia and Ukraine."
Randhir Jaiswal said that the Prime Minister has already indicated India's willingness to play a constructive role in the interest of peace. However, it is too early to comment on specific modalities and routes at this stage. The decision on when and how to start peace talks is the prerogative of both parties involved in the conflict. As friends and partners, we will support any viable and mutually acceptable solution or format that can restore peace
