IAF's Strength Increased Near China Border, India Built North East's First Emergency Air Strip In Assam

Keeping China in mind, India has built a 4.5 km emergency air strip on National Highway-27 in Assam.

With an eye on China and more focus on strategic preparations of the Northeast, India's latest project for emergency landing of aircraft on NH-27 between Demo and Moran in Assam is almost complete.

This air strip is 4.5 km (4500 m) long and is located near Dibrugarh, on which fighter jets and transport aircraft can land in case of emergency.

The Eastern Air Command of the Indian Air Force is expected to land aircraft on this airstrip in the coming days.

This project will strengthen India's quick response capability in the sensitive eastern region bordering China. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared this information on Sunday, the first day of his two-day visit to the upper areas of Assam. He said that this 4.5 km long section of National Highway-27 is being designed for the landing of passenger aircraft and fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) including Sukhoi and Rafale.
