ICC Ranking: Virat Has 900+ Points In All 3 Formats

The ICC updated the T20 ranking system on Wednesday. With this, Virat Kohli, who will retire from this format in 2024, has created a unique record. He became the first cricketer in the world to achieve more than 900 rating points in all three formats.

Virat's best rating points in T20 were 897, which has now increased to 909. He achieved these points in 2014, which increased after the ranking system was updated. Virat has achieved 937 rating points in Tests and 909 rating points in ODIs in 2018 itself.

Virat also retired from Test cricket on 12 May this year. He did not retire from ODIs, in whose batting rankings he is currently at number four.

On 29 June 2024, Virat scored 76 runs against South Africa in the final of the T20 World Cup.

The team won, after which Virat retired from T20. ICC makes some changes in its ranking system every year.

This brings a slight change in the ranking of many players. With this, Virat's points increased from 897 to 909, due to which he created a record of 900 plus rating points even in the shortest format.

Virat had 897 rating points on 7 September 2014. Kohli has also been the number-1 batsman for 1202 consecutive days in this format.

After achieving 909 points, he became the third batsman to achieve the best rating points in T20 history. England's David Malan is at the first position with 919 points and India's Suryakumar Yadav is at the second position with 912 rating points.

In 2018, Virat Kohli became the number-1 batsman in the Test format for the first time. He then scored 593 runs in England.

After this tour, Virat became the number-1 Test batsman with 937 points. During this time, Virat also got 909 rating points in ODIs.

During his best form in 2018, Virat also made a record of being the number-1 ranked batsman in all three formats simultaneously. Apart from Kohli, only former Australian captain Ricky Ponting has been the number-1 batsman in all three formats at the same time.

Apart from these 2, only Australia's Matthew Hayden and India's Jasprit Bumrah could become the number-1 player in all three formats.

However, Hayden and Bumrah became the number-1 player in all three formats at different times.

Is Virat the best all format player in the world? After the T20 ranking update, a question has arisen again that is Virat Kohli the best all format player in the world? If we look for the answer in statistics, Virat has scored 14181 runs in ODIs, 4188 in T20s and 9230 in Tests. He is the 19th top scorer in Tests, but is the third top run scorer in ODIs and T20s. If Virat becomes the top scorer in any one format, then he can definitely top the race to become the best all format player.

On the other hand, if we look at the ICC rankings, Virat is the batsman with the 11th best rating points in Tests in history. He is the third best ranked batsman in T-20 and the sixth best ranked batsman in ODIs.

He has 82 centuries in all three formats combined. Which is the highest after Sachin Tendulkar. No Indian has been able to achieve better rating points than Virat in the ICC rankings.

Sachin has never crossed 900 rating points in any format.

Is Virat the best all format player or not? ICC has definitely given the answer to this through its rankings, but Virat's Test statistics put him behind to some extent in this matter.
