Idol Vandalism, Houses Burned: Jamiat Ulama, Tripura Demands Action

Tripura State Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind has demanded strict action against those who vandalised the idol of Goddess Kali. 

Along with this, it has also asked for strict action against those who set houses on fire in West Tripura district.

The organisation also expressed disappointment that those who were arrested in the arson case gets bail.

Speaking to the media, Mufti Taibur Rahman, president of Tripura Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, said, "Today we met West Tripura Superintendent of Police Kiran Kumar and submitted a memorandum demanding punishment for those who vandalised the idol of Goddess Kali and set eight houses on fire." 

Rahman said that we have also demanded compensation for the houses which were set on fire. 

He further said that we want to know from the police how the accused in the case were granted bail so soon. 

On August 26, after vandalizing an idol of Goddess Kali, a group of miscreants set fire to at least eight houses and 13 vehicles in Durganagar. 

Tipra Motha supremo Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma expressed concern over the incident. He appealed to everyone to maintain law and order. Posting on the social media platform Facebook, he said, "Last night's incident in Kaiturbari area of ​​Ranirbazar is a worrying sign. I appeal to the people to follow the rule of law." 

Tripura is in a bad condition due to floods. Let us tell you that 1.17 lakh people have become homeless due to the devastating floods in Tripura since August 19. So far 26 people have also died in the floods. 

The Centre has sanctioned Rs 40 crore for relief and rehabilitation of flood-affected people. PM Modi assured all possible help to the people of Tripura.
