IFCSAP Urges Implementation of Arunachal Freedom of Religion Act

A delegation from the Indigenous Faith and Cultural Society of Arunachal Pradesh (IFCSAP) met Home Minister Mama Natung, who also heads the Department of Indigenous Affairs and Water Supply, urging the immediate implementation of the Arunachal Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act, 1978 (APFRA).

The delegation, led by IFCSAP President Emi Rumi and General Secretary Maya Murtem, included Youth Wing President Radh Taba and Secretary Rikar Dini. They submitted a memorandum pressing for strict enforcement of the Act to safeguard the state’s indigenous faith, culture, and tribal identity.

The organization expressed concern over the growing influence of external forces and the erosion of traditional belief systems, which, they said, threaten the cultural integrity of Arunachal’s tribal communities.

Reaffirming its commitment, IFCSAP stated that protecting the indigenous faith and cultural heritage is vital to maintaining the social harmony and unique identity of the state.
