India-Canada Relation Is Very Important: Modi In G7 Summit

PM Modi participated as a guest nation in the G7 Summit held in Kananaskis, Canada on Wednesday morning.

Canadian PM Mark Carney welcomed Modi.

After this, a bilateral meeting took place between the heads of state of the two countries.

After the meeting, Modi said- Relations between India and Canada are very important. I am very grateful to you (Canadian PM) for inviting India to the G-7. I am also fortunate that I have got the opportunity to come to Canada once again after 2015 and connect with the people of Canada.

With this, an agreement has been reached between India and Canada to reinstate the High Commissioner.

In fact, after the terrorist Nijjar murder case, in October last year, both the countries had expelled 6 diplomats each from the country.

A journalist asked the Canadian PM if he had talked to PM Modi about the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Carney did not give a direct answer to this. He said- We and Modi have talked about legal issues and mutual cooperation. And that issue is still in the court, so I have to be careful in commenting on it.

Modi also met world leaders at the summit. These included French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian PM Georgia Meloni, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, Australian PM Anthony Albanese, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, South Korean President Lee Je Myung. After this, PM Modi left for Croatia.
