India Completes 2-0 Sweep Over West Indies, Remains Third in WTC 2025-27

India stamped their authority in the two-match Test series against the West Indies, completing a 2-0 clean sweep with a convincing seven-wicket win in the second Test on Tuesday in Delhi. The victory came after a dominant first Test, which India won by an innings and 140 runs.

Chasing a modest target of 121 runs in the Delhi Test, India achieved the total for the loss of three wickets. KL Rahul played a crucial role, remaining unbeaten on 58 and sealing the win with a boundary. For captain Shubman Gill, this series marked his first Test series triumph as the Indian skipper.

The second Test saw India building on a commanding first-innings lead. After being set a target, India had already established dominance with 518 runs in their first innings, while West Indies managed 248. In the second innings, West Indies were dismissed for 390, leaving India with a manageable chase. Standout performances in the first innings included Shubman Gill’s unbeaten 129 and Yashasvi Jaiswal’s impressive 175, cementing India’s dominance.

With this series win, India maintains its third position in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 points table. The team has won four of seven matches, lost two, and drawn one, holding 55.56% of the available points. Their position remains unchanged despite the series victory, highlighting the competitive nature of the ongoing WTC cycle.

India now turns its attention to a two-match home Test series against South Africa, beginning November 14th, with momentum firmly on their side following this comprehensive performance against the West Indies.
