On the completion of 77 years of the country's independence and on the eve of the 78th Independence Day celebrations, today the President of the country Draupadi Murmu greeted the country. The President said that the whole country is busy preparing to celebrate the 78th Independence Day, which I am very happy to see. The President said that seeing the tricolor fluttering fills one with joy and enthusiasm. Be it the Red Fort, the state capital, or any celebration around us.
The President said that just as we celebrate various festivals with our families, we celebrate our Independence Day and Republic Day with our family whose members are all our countrymen. We are part of a tradition that links the dreams of the freedom fighters and the aspirations of future generations who will see our nation regain its full glory in the years to come.
President Draupadi Murmu said that we have started celebrating the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda as Tribal Pride Day. The celebration of his 150th birth anniversary next year will be an opportunity to honour his contribution to national renaissance more deeply. The President said that we are celebrating the 75th anniversary of our Constitution. The journey of our newly independent nation has faced serious obstacles. Remaining firm on the constitutional ideals of justice, equality, liberty and fraternity, we are moving ahead with the mission to ensure that India regains its proud place on the world stage.
The President said that today, on 14th August, our country is observing Partition Horrors Remembrance Day. It is a day to remember the horrors of Partition. When our great nation was partitioned, millions of people were forced to migrate. Lakhs of people lost their lives. A day before we celebrate Independence Day, we remember that unprecedented human tragedy and stand in solidarity with the families who were torn apart.
The President said that by achieving an average annual growth rate of 8 per cent between 2021 and 2024, India is among the fastest growing major economies. This has not only put more money in the hands of the countrymen, but has also drastically reduced the number of people living below the poverty line.
Draupadi Murmu said that it is a matter of pride for all of us that India has become the fifth largest economy of the world, and we are soon set to be among the top three economies of the world. This success has been possible only due to the tireless hard work of farmers and workers, far-sightedness of policy makers and entrepreneurs and the visionary leadership of the country.
The President said that our farmers have ensured that agricultural output is better than expected. By doing so, they have made an invaluable contribution in making India self-reliant in the agricultural sector and providing food to our countrymen. Draupadi Murmu said that after successfully completing its presidency of the G-20, India has strengthened its role as a vocal voice of the Global South. India wants to use its influential position to expand world peace and prosperity.

The President said that in implementing the Indian Judicial Code from July this year, we have removed another relic of the colonial era. The aim of the new code is to ensure justice to crime victims rather than merely punish them. I see this change as a tribute to the freedom fighters.
