India booked their place in the Under-19 Asia Cup final after defeating Sri Lanka by eight wickets in a rain-hit semi-final at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai on Friday. The final, to be played on Sunday, will see a high-voltage clash between India and Pakistan.
The semi-final was delayed due to rain and later reduced to 20 overs per side. Batting first after losing the toss, Sri Lanka struggled against disciplined Indian bowling and managed 138 for 8. Chamika Heenatigala top-scored with 42, while Sethmika Senavaratne added a quick 30 off 22 balls. For India, Kanishk Chauhan and Henil Patel picked up two wickets each, as Sri Lanka lost three wickets for just 28 runs early on.
Chasing 139, India had an unsteady start, losing openers Vaibhav Suryavanshi (9) and Ayush Mhatre (7) cheaply. However, Aaron George and Vihaan Malhotra steadied the innings with an unbeaten 114-run partnership for the third wicket. George scored 58 off 49 balls, while Malhotra struck an aggressive 61 off 45 deliveries to seal the win in 18 overs.
Pakistan also advanced to the final after defeating Bangladesh by eight wickets in the second semi-final. The India-Pakistan final will be their second meeting of the tournament, with India having already beaten Pakistan by 90 runs in the league stage.
Overall in 2025, India have dominated Pakistan, winning six of the seven matches played between the two sides across formats.
