India Thrash Pakistan by 61 Runs in T20 WC

India registered a commanding 61-run victory over Pakistan in the T20 World Cup, marking their biggest win over the arch-rivals in the tournament’s history.

With this emphatic triumph, India secured qualification for the Super 8 stage and now sit comfortably atop the Group A points table with three consecutive victories.

Chasing a competitive target of 176 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday, Pakistan were bowled out for 114 in 18 overs. Usman Khan emerged as the lone bright spot with a fighting 44. For India, Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel, Varun Chakravarthy, and Hardik Pandya delivered disciplined spells, claiming two wickets apiece to dismantle the opposition batting line-up.

Earlier, after being put in to bat, India posted a formidable 175 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs. Ishan Kishan led the charge with a scintillating 77 off just 40 deliveries, studded with 10 boundaries and three sixes. Captain Suryakumar Yadav contributed a steady 32, while Saim Ayub picked up three wickets for Pakistan.

The comprehensive win underlines India’s dominant form and strengthens their credentials as strong contenders in the tournament.
