Team India got a strong victory in the first match of the T20 series against Sri Lanka. Batting first, Team India scored 213 runs and the Sri Lankan team could not achieve this target and could only score 170 runs and as a result, it suffered a big defeat by 43 runs.
The heroes of Team India's victory were captain Suryakumar Yadav, Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant. Arshdeep Singh and Axar Patel did well in bowling. Also, one over of Riyan Parag proved to be heavy on Sri Lanka which ensured its defeat. Team India has taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20 series and the second T20 will be played on Sunday.
Hero of Team India's victory
Captain Suryakumar Yadav wrote the script of Team India's victory. This player scored 58 runs in just 26 balls. On the basis of his innings, Team India reached a big score of 213. After this, Riyan Parag showed his strength in bowling.
This player bowled the 17th and 20th overs and took 3 wickets in just 8 balls. Parag took 3 wickets for just 5 runs. The big thing is that there was also a run out in Parag's over. Meaning, Sri Lanka lost 4 wickets in his 8-ball spell and this became the reason for its defeat.
Team India will bat first
Captain Suryakumar Yadav lost the toss and Sri Lanka invited Team India to bat first. Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal gave Team India a blazing start. Both added 74 runs in the powerplay. Gill scored 34 runs in 16 balls and Yashasvi scored 40 runs in 21 balls.
However, both these players returned to the pavilion on two consecutive balls and this brought Sri Lanka back into the match. But captain Suryakumar Yadav batted in his own style and pushed Sri Lanka on the backfoot again. Surya played shots behind the wicket in his familiar style and against the spinners, he used the sweep shot to complete his half-century in just 22 balls. Surya scored 58 runs in 26 balls.
After his dismissal, Pant contributed 49 runs in 33 balls. Axar Patel took the team's score to 213 runs by hitting a six on the last ball of the innings.
Nissanka takes over Lanka!
Sri Lanka also gave a befitting reply to Team India. Opener Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis shared a partnership of 84 runs in just 52 balls. Both batsmen thrashed India's top bowlers. But then Arshdeep Singh gave Team India its first success by dismissing Kusal Mendis in the 9th over. But Pathum Nissanka was standing firm at the crease and this short-statured player played long shots on the Pallekele ground. 4 sixes and 7 fours came off his bat. But in the 15th over his wicket was taken by Axar Patel and from there the match turned towards Team India. Axar dismissed Kusal Perera in the same over and then it seemed as if Sri Lanka's wickets were about to fall.
Sri Lanka lost its fourth wicket at a score of 158 runs and the team was all out in just 12 runs. This means that Sri Lanka lost 7 wickets for 12 runs. It is clear that Team India bowled brilliantly in the death overs and as a result it got a big win in the first T20
