The hearing of Indian female wrestler Vinesh Phogat in CAS and the subsequent decision is being eagerly awaited.
Let us tell you, Phogat was disqualified before the final in the 50 kg category in Paris Olympics 2024 due to being just 100 grams overweight.
Vinesh was very saddened by this setback. Then she appealed to CAS to give her a silver medal. In such a situation, now the question arises that who hears the Olympic cases and under which court it happens.
When there is a dispute in any sport and the player wants to oppose any decision, then the player has to resort to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS).
Let us tell you, CAS was formed in the year 1984 to resolve sports disputes. The head office of this court is in Switzerland and it is an independent institution, where any player or coach can reach with their issues or disputes.
Their hearing takes place here. Similarly, when Vinesh Phogat was disqualified in the final round due to being 100 grams overweight, she filed her petition in the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) so that her case could be heard.
The decision on Vinesh Phogat 's case was earlier supposed to come on the last day of the Olympics. But now the decision on this case can come by 6 pm on August 13.
The female player had tried very hard to reduce her weight a night before being disqualified, but it was not possible and ultimately she was disqualified for being overweight before the final
