Indian Hockey Team Beats Australia in Paris Olympic

The Indian hockey team came out of the defeat at the hands of Belgium and created history by defeating Australia on Friday. India played a strong game in the Paris Olympics-2024 match and defeated the Australian team 3-2. 

This victory of Team India is historic because India has defeated Australia in the Olympics for the first time since 1972.

Team India ended this drought of 52 years. Earlier, India had defeated New Zealand 3-2 in the first match. Then played a 1-1 draw against Argentina. Team India won 2-1 against Ireland, but India had to face defeat 1-2 at the hands of Belgium.

The Australian team is known for its aggressive hockey. It started this match with an attack. In the initial minutes itself, Australia tried to put pressure on the Indian circle by roaming around it. However, India was also not far behind. Gurjant, Hardik and Shamsher put the Australian defense line to a tough test.

India got the first success in the first quarter. Abhishek scored for India in the 12th minute. First Lalit Upadhyay tested the Australian goalkeeper who made a save but could not clear the ball properly and Abhishek took advantage of this and put the ball in the net and put India ahead. In the next minute India got a penalty corner which captain Harmanpreet converted into a goal and put India ahead by 2-0. India ended the first quarter with this score.

Australia tried to make a comeback in the second quarter. The Australian team was constantly trying to get into India's circle. In the 19th minute, it got the result in the form of a penalty corner, although Black Govers could not score a goal. 

In the 25th minute, Australia got a chance to score a field goal which was denied by Manpreet. Here Australia got a short penalty corner and the team was successful in opening the account. Craig Thomas put the ball in the net without any trouble.

In the 26th minute, India got a chance to increase its lead. Due to a mistake by the Australian team, they got a penalty corner but this time Harmanpreet failed. India ended the second quarter with a lead.

As soon as the third quarter started, Australia created an opportunity. An Australian player from the left flank got the ball and entered the Indian circle, but Sreejesh made a brilliant save and did not let the goal happen. 

India countered and got a penalty corner. Harmanpreet could not convert the penalty corner into a goal but was successful in getting a penalty stroke. Harmanpreet did not miss this easy opportunity and put India ahead 3-1.

Australia was not completely out of the match. It could have made a comeback by scoring two goals in the last quarter. This did not happen, on the contrary, Team India scored the fourth goal in this quarter. But due to a technical fault, this goal of Team India was canceled. 

In the last five minutes, Australia was successful in taking a penalty stroke and this time Govers did not make any mistake in scoring the goal. After this, Team India was more cautious and did not let the equalizing goal happen and won
