IPL 2024: Punjab Kings Beats KKR in World Record Run Chase At Eden Gardens

Punjab Kings performed a miracle by achieving the biggest run chase in IPL history. The target of 261 runs for Punjab Kings against Kolkata Knight Riders on the night of 26 April proved to be a dwarf.

Thanks to Jonny Bairstow's stormy unbeaten century and half-centuries from Prabhsimran Singh-Shashank Singh, Punjab won by eight wickets in the first eight balls at Eden Gardens.

Jonny Bairstow scored unbeaten 108 runs on 48 balls. Shashank Singh led the team to victory by scoring unbeaten 68 runs on 28 balls.

Earlier, Prabhasimran Singh had laid the foundation of the team's victory by scoring 54 runs on 20 balls. Sunil Narine took one wicket for Kolkata. A batter ran out.

For the first time in T-20 cricket, a team chased a huge score of 262 runs. Apart from this, the maximum number of 42 sixes (KKR- 18, Punjab- 24) in a T-20 match was also hit in this match.

Punjab Kings also made the record of hitting the maximum number of 24 sixes in an innings.

Jonny Bairstow played the role of a facilitator in this victory of Punjab. He scored the third century of his IPL career. This English wicketkeeper batsman, who was going through poor form, was dropped in the last match, but made a strong comeback and scored 93 with Prabhsimran Singh for the first wicket, 85 with Riley Rousseau for the second wicket and Shashank for the third wicket. Made a match winning partnership of 84 runs with Singh.
