IPL 2024: Rajasthan Royals Beats Royal Challengers Bangalore : To Face SRH in Qualifier 2

Rajasthan Royals have defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 4 wickets in the eliminator match of IPL 2024.

With this, Rajasthan has confirmed its place in the Qualifier 2 match, where Sanju Samson's army will face Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

RCB had scored 172 runs while playing first in the stadium. Virat Kohli scored 33 runs, in the last overs Mahipal Lomror scored 32 runs in 17 balls to take Bengaluru to this score. When Rajasthan set out to chase the target, the team got a steady start, but due to the restriction on run rate in the middle overs, the match became close.

Important innings of Ryan Parag, Shimron Hetmyer and Rovman Powell took Rajasthan Royals to the next stage.

While chasing the target of 173 runs, Rajasthan Royals players had scored 45 runs in 5 overs without losing any wicket. But in the sixth over, Tom Kohler Cadmore was out after scoring 20 runs in 15 balls.

Meanwhile, Swapnil Singh scored 17 runs in one over, but after that the RCB bowlers had controlled the run rate to a great extent.

Karn Sharma gave a big blow to Rajasthan by stumping captain Sanju Samson on the very first ball of the 11th over. Samson scored 17 runs in 13 balls. When the partnership between Dhruv Jurel and Riyan Parag seemed to be flourishing, then in the 14th over, Dhruv Jurel was run out due to the agility of Virat Kohli.

Till 15 overs, RR had scored 126 runs at the loss of 4 wickets and the team still had to score 47 runs in 5 overs to win.

28 runs were scored in the next 2 overs, due to which RR needed only 19 runs in 3 overs. Shimron Hetmyer was out after scoring 26 runs on the last ball of the 18th over.

The match seemed to be stuck again, but Rovman Powell scored 14 runs in Lockie Ferguson's over and ensured RR's victory by 4 wickets with 6 balls remaining.

In the eliminator match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals, Virat Kohli has become the first player in the history of IPL to complete 8,000 runs. He has achieved this feat in his 252nd match.

RR player Rovman Powell has now become the player who has taken the most catches during a playoff match. He took 4 catches in the match against RCB. Before him, 6 different players had taken 3 catches in a playoff match.

Ryan Parag has now joined the list of batsmen who have touched the 500-run mark in a single IPL season without playing international cricket.
