IPL 2024: Sunrisers Hyderabad Defeated Delhi Capitals By 67 Runs

In the thrilling 35th match of IPL 2024 held at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Delhi Capitals by 67 runs. 

With this, Hyderabad team has reached second position in the points table. This is Hyderabad's 5th win in the season. After losing the toss and opting to bat first, the Hyderabad team scored a huge total of 266 runs in the stipulated 20 overs on the basis of brilliant half-centuries by Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma and Shahbaz Ahmed. In reply, Delhi's batsmen definitely tried, but the entire team was bundled out for 199 runs with 5 balls remaining. 

This is Hyderabad's 5th win in 7 matches while Delhi has faced 5th defeat in 8 matches.

Hyderabad's Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma opened the scoring and started tearing apart the Delhi bowlers. Both the batsmen started hitting fours and sixes from the very first ball. 

The situation was such that Hyderabad had scored above 100 runs in the first 5 overs without losing any wicket. However, Kuldeep Yadav tightened the reins and sent both of them back to the pavilion one by one. Head was out after scoring 89 runs in 32 balls. His innings included 11 fours and 6 sixes. 

At the same time, Abhishek batted brilliantly and scored 46 runs in 12 balls with the help of 2 fours and 6 sixes. Shahbaz Ahmed, who came to bat in the end, batted till the end and scored a half-century and remained unbeaten after scoring 59 runs in 29 balls with the help of 2 fours and 5 sixes. Nitish became the victim of Kuldeep Yadav after scoring 37 runs.

Chasing the target, two batsmen of Delhi Capitals had returned to the pavilion for 25 runs. 22 year old Jake Fraser McGurk, who came to bat at number three, exploded as soon as he arrived. 

He started hitting fours and sixes all around the field. This young batsman scored 30 runs in one over of Washington Sundar by hitting two consecutive fours and sixes. In this over, 3 sixes and as many fours were seen from his bat. However, his explosive innings ended at 65 runs. 

McGurk scored 65 runs facing only 18 balls in this match. He got out while attempting a big shot. His innings included 5 fours and 7 sixes. Apart from these, Rishabh Pant was out after scoring 44 runs, while Abhishek Porel played an inning of 42 runs in 22 balls.
