Jutemil Workers Hold Mahakaran Abhiyan Demanding Dues

Jutmill workers-employees and pensioners held the Mahakaran Abhiyan in a collective call demanding payment of dues of 1,647 Jutmill workers as per the High Court order.
But as they marched towards Mahakaran in a huge rally , they were stopped by the police.
In protest, they sat on dharna in the area adjacent to the circuit house. Later, a delegation of them made a deputation to the Finance Secretary of the State.
A retired jute mill worker said that the state government has not yet paid the outstanding amount of Rs 250 crore to 1647 jute mill workers. Jutmill workers and pensioners embarked on a campaign in Mahakaran to protest against this.
Their demands are that, according to the order of the court, the outstanding salary, gratuity, leave salary of all the 1647 recipients should be settled together with six percent interest. Meanwhile, the jutmill authorities have brought the list of names of 418 people of the two suing organizations from the labor department.
Instead of giving, 191 people selected according to their own will got partial benefits in stages.
An employee said that a case has been filed in the High Court of Tripura due to contempt of the court order. There, the court judge ordered the authorities concerned to submit full affidavits regarding the payment of dues.
