Kailashahar: Congress-BJP Jointly Forms Panchayat

Congress and BJP jointly formed panchayat. The incident took place in Bhagwan Nagar village panchayat under Gaurnagar block in Kailashahar. 

In the recently concluded Three-tier Panchayat elections in the eleven-seat Bhagavan Nagar Gram Panchayat, five members of the CPI-M and three members of the Congress and three members of the BJP won the polls.

Before the polls, in other gram panchayats of Gaurnagar block, the Congress and CPI(M) had come together to share candidates, but in Bhagwan Nagar Gram Panchayat, the Congress and CPI(M) did not. 

In Bhagwan Nagar Gram Panchayat, Congress and CPI(M) have fielded candidates separately in eleven seats. 

After the counting of votes, it can be seen that neither BJP, Congress, CPI(M) party got single majority in Bhagwan Nagar Panchayat. 

Everyone thought that Congress and CPI(M) would form panchayat together. But all the numbers changed during the swearing-in ceremony. 

The oath-taking ceremony began at noon on Wednesday August 28 at the Bhagwan Nagar Gram Panchayat Office amid tight security. 

First, eleven people took oath as panchayat members.

 Later on, the name of Farida Begum, elected panchayat member of CPIM party was proposed by CPIM party as chief, while Nehar Begum, elected panchayat member of Congress party was proposed by BJP party as chief and Nehar Begum was elected chief. 

Later, BJP elected Panchayat member Prasenjit Malakar was elected as Deputy Chief. 

The elected panchayat member of CPIM party Bijay Das has expressed anger that despite having 5 panchayat members of CPIM party, 3 panchayat members of Congress party did not support CPIM party. 

On the other hand, BJP leader Sandeep Debroy accompanied the newly elected panchayat head and deputy head and said that the BJP party has formed the panchayat along with three panchayat members of the Congress as per the demand of time and the demand of the villagers. Because CPI(M) is an anti-people party. 

He said that this alliance has been made to save people from this anti-people party. 

However, such an unprecedented incident has shocked the people of Bhagwan  Nagar.
