Khalistani Activist Amritpal Singh Files Nomination From Assam Jail

Khalistani supporter Amritpal Singh, lodged under NSA in Assam's Dibrugarh jail, will contest the Lok Sabha elections as an independent.

His nomination has been filed on behalf of the family on Friday. Amritpal will contest from Punjab Khadur Sahib seat. To file the nomination, a demand for temporary release was made by him from the High Court, which was rejected.

The Punjab government had told the High Court that the Superintendent of Dibrugarh Jail will complete all the process of nomination of Amritpal Singh in the jail itself.

Amritpal's father says that his son is in the election field at the behest of his supporters. Let us tell you that the nomination process for elections in Punjab has started from Tuesday.

Candidates can file nomination till May 14. Scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on May 15. The last date for withdrawal of forms is 17th May.

On Khadur Sahib seat, Congress has given ticket to Kulbir Singh Zira, Aam Aadmi Party to Laljit Singh Bhullar and Bharatiya Janata Party to Manjit Singh Manna Mianwind. Voting will be held on 13 Lok Sabha seats of Punjab on June 1.

Amritpal made headlines in the country last year. After the attack on Ajnala police station, the country had seen his misdeeds and conspiracies. Amritpal and his supporters had violently clashed with the police to get the release of their associate Lovepreet Singh alias Toofan. Hundreds of people had stormed the police station.

When the police caught Lovepreet, Amritpal had said that he was implicated in a false case. Threatened to release Lovepreet and cancel the FIR registered against her. However, later the police released Lovepreet.

After this, Punjab Police and Punjab Government were much disgraced.
