Khumulwng, the headquarter of Tripura Tribel Areas Autonomous District Council is on edge.
The political bonhomie between BJP and its alliance partner Tipra Motha has collapsed at the grassroots, turning the hills into a battleground of violence, fear and retaliation.

On Thursday evening, miscreants launched a brazen attack and set fire to the BJP party office in Khumulung.
Even though the fire brigade and police were alerted, the building was gutted before help could make a difference. The flames burned more than a structure — they ignited fresh doubts over the administration’s capability to maintain control in the region.
The first arrow of accusation went straight at Tipra Motha.
Within hours, violence spilled into residential neighbourhoods.
Seven to eight attackers allegedly stormed into the home of BJP worker Shahid Debbarma in Jai Krishna Kabra Para, wreaking havoc in his absence.

Family members claim the attackers smashed TV, fridge, inverter and nearly all furniture. Assaulted residents when they tried to resist.Cut the electricity line.
Shahid’s wife, in tears, alleged she was pushed to the ground when she pleaded with the attackers to stop. Her accusation was clear and direct — Tipra Motha workers were behind the assault.
The Radhapur police swung into action, soon joined by SDPO, Jirania Subdivision, Additional SP, West District, Himadri Das.
Heavy police deployment continues, yet fear remains the dominant emotion among locals.
The tension was already simmering from the previous night. At around 1–1:30 AM, a crude bomb was detonated in front of a shop in Dukhiya Kobra area.
Police immediately launched an investigation. The shopkeeper, claiming no political affiliation, said the clashes between BJP and Tipra Motha in the past few days suggest that miscreants aligned to either side could be responsible.
Locals echoed the same sentiment:
This is now a war between the cadres.

When Tipra Motha MDC Ganesh Debbarma reached at the spot, he fired a counter allegation —
“The BJP steals goats and pigs from people’s homes and eats them.”
Mandai MLA Swapna Debbarma was also present as political temperature soared.
Despite leaders of the both parties smiling together for the media, the ground reality tells a starkly different story.
Miscreants from both sides have allegedly begun an elimination campaign — house to house, office to office.
Khumulwng today stands at a critical crossroad. Administration claims to contain law and order but residents fearful of fresh attacks.
Political warfare spreading beyond speeches and into living rooms. If the escalation continues, Khumulwng may soon become not just a political headline — but a full-scale crisis demanding urgent intervention.
