KKR in Final For The Fourth Time in History of IPL. Defeats SRH

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Tuesday defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by eight wickets with the help of half-centuries from Shreyas Iyer and Venkatesh Iyer to reach their fourth IPL final.

KKR's bowlers performed brilliantly, led by Mitchell Starc. They bowled out SRH for 159 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and then KKR chased down the target within 14 overs.

Pat Cummins-led Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and elected to bat first at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Mitchell Starc gave early blows to SRH by taking three wickets in the powerplay.

After two consecutive poor seasons, KKR has made a comeback with a bang.

They topped the league stage table with a record net run rate and now they have put in a spectacular performance to beat Sunrisers and enter their fourth IPL final. Shreyas Iyer's return should also not be forgotten.

Despite missing the last season due to injury and being deprived of a BCCI contract this season, Shreyas has shown great leadership this time to take the team to the finals.

KKR is ready to play in the final for the fourth time in the history of IPL. They finished the league stage as the No. 1 team and tonight they played like their best team all season. There could not have been a more powerful victory than this. Mitchell Starc gave KKR a great start by dismissing Head for a duck and he bowled a brilliant spell in the powerplay to take SRH to 39/4.

Tripathi and Klaasen definitely scored some runs. However, KKR bowlers prevented them from scoring runs in the middle overs and Sunrisers were restricted to a simple score.

In reply, KKR's openers gave a great start, while both the Iyer's (Shreyas and Venkatesh) chased the target brilliantly by making a brilliant partnership for the third wicket. Head, who hurt India in the final of the 2023 World Cup, had a very bad game tonight. First he was out on zero and later he was hit hard by Shreyas.

Disappointed with the defeat, SRH captain Pat Cummins said, “We will try to forget this defeat as soon as possible, the good thing is that we have a chance to play the second qualifier. There are days like this in T20 cricket where things do not go well. We could not find our rhythm in batting and could not show anything special in bowling either. It was necessary to take an extra batsman (as an impact sub) on this wicket.

KKR bowled really well, got some help in the beginning and then the pitch became favorable for batting. We all have played a lot of cricket and going to a new ground (Chennai) can also be beneficial for us. So, we have to leave the defeat behind and move forward.”
