Kolkata Rape Murder Case: SC Formed National Task Force

The Supreme Court reprimanded the Mamata government for the rape and murder of a female doctor in Kolkata. The three-member bench headed by the CJI bombarded Kapil Sibal, who was representing the state government, with questions. The court asked in strong words that the body was handed over to the parents at 8 pm and then why was the case registered at 11:45 pm? The court further asked whether the murder case was not registered in the beginning? What was the college principal doing at that time? Why did he not take action?

Surprisingly, Sibal also did not have answers to most of the questions. The court has also formed a National Task Force whose interim report will have to be submitted in three weeks. Apart from this, the Supreme Court has asked the CBI to submit a status report on August 22. Know what happened in the court during the hearing of this case today-

The Supreme Court came today with full preparation on the Kolkata case. The bench headed by the CJI has also constituted the National Task Force. The following members are included in this task force-

The Supreme Court has also given a deadline to the task force. According to the instructions issued under the leadership of the CJI, the task force will have to submit an interim report in three weeks. After that, the final report will have to be submitted in two months. 

The CJI said that the state government i.e. the Mamta government will also have to submit a status report about the vandalism in the hospital. The next hearing on this matter will be on August 22, i.e. Thursday. It is known that on the same day the CBI also has to submit its status report. The Supreme Court said that this is not a case but a matter of safety of doctors and nurses across the country.

During the hearing of the Kolkata rape murder case in the Supreme Court, the Solicitor General told the court that the girl was treated worse than an animal. On this, Kapil Sibal asked the Chief Justice what should be done on the principal? Sibal said that whatever order is given will be followed.

During the hearing on the Kolkata case, the Supreme Court directed the CBI to file the status by Thursday. It has also been asked to tell the stage of investigation. The Chief Justice said that we want to see the report. Apart from this, the CJI said that we will form a National Task Force. The task force will tell about safety, working conditions etc. After this, the Supreme Court told the doctors protesting against this incident to trust us and at the same time, all the doctors have also been requested to withdraw their protest. The Supreme Court also said that the state police should take serious action against those who are protesting peacefully.

Senior advocate Kapil Sibal appeared on behalf of the Kolkata government. The bench led by the CJI showered questions on the Kolkata Police. The bench asked whether the parents were not allowed to meet the girl for four hours? On this, Sibal said that this fact is not correct. After this, the Chief Justice said that was the murder case not registered in the beginning? What was the college principal doing at that time? Why did he not take action? 

The Chief Justice also questioned the entry of a large crowd in the hospital. What was the police doing when the mob reached the hospital? Why did the police not protect the crime scene? How was the mob allowed to enter? When the principal resigned, was he appointed somewhere else? Surprisingly, Kapil Sibal had no answer to the questions asked by the Supreme Court bench.

CJI DY Chandrachud said in a strict tone that we are concerned about the publication and circulation of the name and photo of the victim with whom the incident happened. It has been said in the law and the judgment that the name should not be revealed but it was still done, it is a matter of serious concern. CJI said that the life of a young doctor ended and then her name and photo were circulated.

A three-member bench headed by the CJI has expressed concern over the safety of doctors after this heinous incident. Expressing concern over the safety of the female doctor in the hospital, the CJI said that we are concerned about the safety of not only female doctors but also doctors. We want to ensure that an environment of safety is created across the country
