KP Oli Takes Oath as Nepal’s PM For Fourth Time

After the coup in Nepal, KP Sharma Oli has become the Prime Minister of the country for the fourth time. He took oath as the fourth PM of Nepal on Monday. 

President Ramchandra Poudel administered the oath of office to Oli. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Oli on becoming PM for the fourth time. 

PM Modi wrote, Congratulations to KP Sharma Oli on being appointed the Prime Minister of Nepal for the fourth time. The friendly relations between our two countries will become stronger, both the countries will work together to increase mutual cooperation, we hope so.

KP Sharma Oli is the president of the CMN-UML party. He has become the Prime Minister with the support of the Nepali Congress, the largest party in the Nepali Parliament. Oli has become the Prime Minister of the country after the coup in Nepal. 

He has replaced Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda'. On Friday, 'Prachanda' lost the trust vote in the House of Representatives. After this, the process of formation of a new government began according to Article 76 (2) of the Constitution.

Oli submitted the signatures of 165 members to the President to form the government, after which the President approved him to form the government. Out of these 165 members, 77 members were from Oli's party (CPN-UML) while 88 members were from Nepali Congress.

KP Sharma Oli took charge of Nepal for the first time in 2015. On 12 October, he became the Prime Minister of Nepal for the first time. He remained in this post till 4 August 2016 (297 days). 

After this, on 15 February 2018, he once again became the PM of Nepal and remained on this post till 13 May 2021. After this, he again became the PM of Nepal for 60 days. At the same time, on 15 July 2024, he has become the PM of Nepal for the fourth time
