Landslide in Dima Hasao. Tripura, Barak Isolated By Rail Again

The suffering in rail travel is not going away. For the common people of Tripura and Barak Valley of Assam, rail travel has become a nightmare this season. 

Because, due to a major landslide on the Lamding-Badarpur hill route, train services have been completely suspended. 

The landslide occurred at around 2:45 pm today in the area of ​​51/2-3 km between Dihakho and Mupa stations. 

About 30 huge stones and about 100 cubic meters of soil fell on the railway line. Small stones are still rolling down from the mountain, due to which there is a danger.

On receiving the news of the landslide, top officials of the railway department quickly reached the spot and started restoration work. 

The railway authorities are making all efforts to bring the situation under control. The railway authorities have said that train services will remain suspended till all the stones and soil are removed from the railway tracks. 

For the convenience of passengers, help desks have been set up at Guwahati, Lamding, Silchar, Badarpur and Agartala stations. 

The railway administration is closely monitoring the situation and further information will be given in this regard in the future.

It is learnt that the Silchar-Guwahati Express (Train No. 15616) was stopped by a guard on duty at the time of the landslide. The loco pilot immediately applied the emergency brake and brought the train safely back to Mupa station.

Several heavy equipments have been brought in to clear the railway track. One JCB and two excavators have already started work. 

Two excavators are working in the area of ​​53/2-3 km and the JCB-T is being brought to Mupa station through the track and a BFR is being lifted to the spot. 

After receiving the news of the incident, top officials of the railway department quickly reached the spot and started rescue and restoration work. It has been informed that the train services will be suspended until the stones and soil accumulated on the track due to the landslide are removed.

In this incident, 15616 Silchar-Guwahati Express returned to Mupa at 3:18 pm. 13174 Kanchenjunga Express reached Maksopur at 4:05 pm and is stuck there. 12520 Agartala-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express reached New Haflong at 4:00 pm and is standing there. 

15618 Durlavchhara-Guwahati Express left Durlavchhara at 3:47 pm and is stuck at New Haflong Junction. 14619 Agartala-Ferozepur Express reached Jatinga Lampur crossing at 3:45 pm and is stuck. 

It is to be noted that earlier on June 23, rail services were suspended due to landslides in the area between New Haflong and Jatinga Lampur stations on the same route.
