Law And Order In The State Is In The Hands Of BJP, Motha Miscreants: CPI(M) Writes To Tripura CM

The rule of law in Tripura is currently under question. The CPI(M) has expressed deep concern over the continuous attacks on opposition political parties and the silence or complicity of the police administration. Therefore, the CPI(M) has written a letter to the Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha demanding an immediate end to the repression of the opposition and the police to act according to the law.

In the letter, the CPI(M) leaders wrote that the law and order situation in the state has deteriorated alarmingly. The biased and indifferent role of a section of the administration has become the main weapon to suppress the opposition. This indifferent behavior of the police is not only stifling opposition political activities, but has also jeopardized the security of the general public. They also mentioned that the Tripura Police had achieved the glory of achieving the 'President's Colour', today a section of them is being used to follow the words of the ruling party and suppress the opposition - which is tarnishing the image of the entire force.

Citing some of the recent horrific incidents, it says, June 17, 2025 – Miscreants attacked a solidarity meeting for Palestine in Vishalgarh. Miscreants of the BJP Youth Front attacked a peaceful meeting organized by the Vishalgarh unit of the CPI(M). Although the police, SDPO and OC were present, 50-60 armed miscreants created chaos by throwing bricks and stones at the meeting and entered the party office and committed widespread vandalism. About 20 bikes were vandalized. The police were practically inactive despite being present. Although the names of 26 people were mentioned in the FIR, the police have not taken any action to this day. Similarly, on the same day, the house of CPIM leader Md. Musharraf Hossain was attacked in Karaimura:
women were beaten up after entering the house, property was vandalized and items worth lakhs of rupees were looted. Although an FIR was lodged, the police have not taken any action yet.

Moreover, on June 21, miscreants attacked a Congress meeting at Dataram Bazar. At the meeting, which had just been approved by the police, Congress leader and MLA Sudip Roy Barman was beaten up by BJP workers. The police, though present, did not intervene. On June 24, bricks were pelted at Jitendra Chowdhury's meeting at the Takajala Community Hall. Supporters of Tipra Matha tied their faces to the ground and pelted bricks to disrupt the meeting. The police remained virtually silent. On June 29, a CPIM meeting at Kakraban Motor Stand was disrupted. BJP miscreants occupied the meeting venue and attacked the CPI(M) office. The meeting was adjourned as the police did not help.

Moreover, on July 6, Bilonia MLA Dipankar Sen was attacked. Miscreants pulled him from a moving bike in front of the SP's residence and beat him up. Besides, on July 7, campaign in Kamalpur suspended: CPIM was forced to cancel its programme due to threats from BJP workers and non-cooperation from the police.

This series of incidents proves that law and order has completely broken down in the state and the inaction and biased attitude of a section of the administration has made the miscreants more reckless. It is being made practically impossible to carry out opposition political activities. Therefore, a letter has been written to the Chief Minister requesting that the police be allowed to work independently to take strict action against the lawbreakers.
