In the second phase of Lok Sabha elections, elections are going on today (26 April) for 88 seats in 13 states and union territories. During this period, more than 15.88 crore voters will be able to exercise their franchise. These include 8.08 crore men, 7.8 crore women and 5,929 third gender voters. Elections are being held on all the 20 Lok Sabha seats of Kerala. 14 seats in Karnataka, 13 in Rajasthan, eight in Uttar Pradesh, eight in Maharashtra, six in Madhya Pradesh, five in Assam, five in Bihar, three in Chhattisgarh, three in West Bengal and one seat each in Tripura, Manipur and Jammu and Kashmir. Voting is taking place on 88 Lok Sabha seats.
In this, voting for Lok Sabha has taken place in the first phase in some assembly constituencies under Manipur Outer seat, while voting is taking place today in other assembly constituencies.
Among those contesting in the second phase are Rahul Gandhi from Wayanad, Kerala and Shashi Tharoor of Congress from Thiruvananthapuram.
Shashi Tharoor is contesting against Union Minister and BJP candidate Rajeev Chandrashekhar. Hema Malini from Mathura, Bhupesh Baghel from Rajnandgaon, D.K. from Bengaluru Rural. Suresh and Tejasvi Surya are contesting from Bengaluru South. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla is contesting from Kota seat of Rajasthan on BJP ticket. Pappu Yadav is contesting as an independent from Purnia, Bihar. BJP candidate Arun Govil is contesting from Meerut.
Although voting was to be held on 89 seats in the second phase, but after the death of a Bahujan Samaj Party candidate in Betul seat of Madhya Pradesh, now voting is being held in the third phase. The Election Commission said that in this phase, more than 16 lakh polling officers have been deployed at 1.67 lakh polling stations.
He said that there are more than 15.88 crore voters in this phase, of which 8.08 crore are men, 7.8 crore are women and 5929 are of the third gender. According to him, there are 34.8 lakh first-time voters and 3.28 crore voters in the age group of 20-29 years.

61% voting has taken place till 5 pm in the second phase of Lok Sabha elections. Till 5 pm, the highest turnout was recorded in Tripura at 76.2 percent. After this, 76.1 votes were cast in Manipur. Till 5 pm, 72.1 percent voting took place in Chhattisgarh. Whereas in West Bengal and Assam, more than 70 percent voting took place till 5 pm. In West Bengal, avarege 60.60 percent voting took place till 3 pm. 44 per cent in UP till 3 pm, 69 per cent in Tripura, 50.27 per cent in Rajasthan, 68 per cent till 3 pm in Manipur, 43 per cent in Maharashtra, 46.50 per cent in Madhya Pradesh, 51.64 per cent in Kerala, 50.93 per cent in Karnataka, 50.93 per cent in Jammu and Kashmir. Voting was 57.76 percent, 64 percent in Chhattisgarh, 44.24 percent in Bihar and 60.32 percent in Assam.

There has been a clash between West Bengal BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar and TMC supporters. However, due to the presence of security forces the matter did not go beyond the debate. Majumdar is also a BJP MP from Balurghat. This time also he is contesting the elections. Majumdar objected to the crowd of TMC supporters at the booths, on which TMC supporters raised slogans of Go Back.
