Lok Sabha Election Phase 4 Live Updates: 62.9 % Voter Turnout Recorded Till 8 PM

Voting for the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024 started at 7 am today on 96 seats in 10 states and one union territory including Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. In this phase, the fate of 1717 candidates is at stake, for whom 17.48 lakh voters are voting. In this phase, the electoral fate of many prominent candidates like Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav, Union Minister Giriraj Singh, Trinamool Congress leader Mahua Moitra and AIMIM's Asaduddin Owaisi will be decided.

The BJP-led NDA currently has MPs on more than 40 of these 96 Lok Sabha seats. In the first three phases of Lok Sabha elections, voting was 66.14 percent, 66.71 percent and 65.68 percent respectively. It is expected that the voting percentage will increase in this phase.
A total of 17,47,810 voters have been enrolled in the fourth phase, which includes 8,75,938 men, 8,71,808 women and 64 third gender voters. About 11,682 persons with disabilities and 705 voters above 100 years of age.

About 62.31% voter turnout was recorded till 5 pm across 10 states, the Election Commission of India said. West Bengal recorded 75.66 per cent turnout followed by Madhya Pradesh at 68.01 per cent, Jharkhand at 63.14 per cent, Uttar Pradesh at 56.35 per cent and Bihar at 54.14 per cent, respectively.

Turnout in the 96 constituencies spread across 10 states and Union Territories stood at 40.32% at 1 pm, with polling scheduled till 6 pm. Voter turnout in Srinagar reached 23.57% at 1 pm, well above the total turnout of 14.39% in the seat in 2019.
