Mamata, Akhilesh Addressed Saheed Diwas Rally In Kolkatta

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee held a Shaheed Diwas rally at Esplanade in Kolkata on Sunday (July 21). Apart from Mamata Banerjee and Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders, Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav also addressed the rally.

This is the first big rally of TMC after its one-sided victory in the Lok Sabha and Assembly by-elections in West Bengal. Lakhs of workers participated in it. Mamata announces the party's strategy from the stage of Shaheed Diwas rally every year.

Important points from the speeches of Mamta, Akhilesh and Abhishek Banerjee in the rally:

Akhilesh said- Delhi government will fall soon, our days of happiness will come.
At TMC's Shaheed Diwas rally, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav said, "When we look at the country's politics, today's challenge has increased. Communal forces are hatching conspiracies. Those who are in power and those sitting at different places at the behest of Delhi are constantly conspiring.

"You left BJP behind in Bengal, Uttar Pradesh also left them behind by joining hands with you. Those who have come to power for a few days are guests for a few days. The government of Delhi is not going to last. That government is going to fall. We will see one day that this government will fall and days of happiness will come for us and you" he said.

In the rally, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said, I want that Bengal's relations with India should be good. You (Akhilesh Yadav) came here, I thank you. I would like to congratulate the Samajwadi Party for the game you have played in Uttar Pradesh. I agree with you that the government that has been brought to power in Delhi by appointing agencies and Election Commission is not stable, that government can fall anytime.

Abhishek Banerjee said in the rally- Those who had said this time we will cross 400, they stopped at 240 only. Those who had said in Bengal that this time we will cross 200, they have been stopped at 70 by the public and the supporters of Trinamool Congress. BJP has all the agencies like ED-CBI-IT but Trinamool has Janta Janardan and Trinamool workers.

Under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee, a demonstration was held in Kolkata on July 21, 1993, demanding voter identity card with photo. During that time, 13 Congress workers were killed in police firing. In their memory, Mamata observe 21 July every year as Martyr's Day. Mamata was the president of the youth wing of the Congress at that time and the CPI (M)-led Left Front was ruling in Bengal.

It is a big thing for Mamata Banerjee and Akhilesh Yadav to come together on one platform. Both of them coming together on one platform will show the unity of the INDIA alliance. Mamata has good relations with Akhilesh. Akhilesh had left the Bhadohi Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh for TMC. However, the party lost here.

Mamta had campaigned for Akhilesh in the last Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. According to sources, Akhilesh himself called Mamta and expressed his desire to attend the Shahid Diwas rally. Akhilesh can issue a big message for the INDIA alliance from the stage.

Before the Lok Sabha elections, there was no agreement between Congress and TMC regarding seat sharing. After this, both the parties fielded their candidates against each other. Congress had formed an alliance with the left parties. However, this caused loss to Congress and TMC benefited more.

Mamata Banerjee had said that she will not have any alliance with Congress in the state, but she will be with the INDIA alliance at the center. Mamata's message was clear that she is not in the mood to share seats with any party even in the 2026 assembly elections after the Lok Sabha.

According to sources, Akhilesh wants the distance between Mamta Banerjee and Congress to end for the strengthening of the INDIA alliance. This will strengthen the INDIA alliance in the upcoming assembly elections in West Bengal.

In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, TMC alone won 29 out of 42 Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal. In 2019, the party had got 22 seats. Whereas BJP reached 12 seats from 19. Congress, which won 2 seats, was reduced to one seat this time.

Out of the 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, BJP and its allies have won 36 seats. Whereas, All India Alliance has won 43 seats. Nagina Lok Sabha seat has gone to Azad Samaj Party chief Chandrashekhar Azad.
