Manipur: Four Bunkers Of Militants Destroyed By Force

In Manipur, security forces recently destroyed four bunkers of gunmen and captured three in Imphal East and Kangpokpi districts after an encounter with them. In a separate operation, two militants of the banned organization Kangleipak ​​People's Revolutionary Party (PREPAK) have been arrested in Imphal West district. 

In the case, an official said on Monday that the militants were identified as Leishangthem Napoleon Meitei (35) and Thokchom Amujao Singh (33). Both were arrested from Sangaipro Mamang Leikai on Sunday. They are accused of extortion. Police also seized three mobile phones and 12 demand letters from their possession.

Along with this, police said, in the last two days, large scale operations were carried out in many areas bordering Thamnapokpi and Sansabi villages. During this, bunkers were destroyed. Militants used to attack villages located in lower areas by hiding in these areas. Four people including a policeman and a woman were injured in the attack on Friday.

Security forces seized arms and ammunition during search operations in Churachandpur and Tengnoupal districts. Police said that an INSAS rifle, a nine mm pistol and a single barrel rifle were seized in Mualam village of Churachandpur district. On Friday, a .303 rifle, a 12 bore single barrel gun, seven IEDs, five hand grenades and detonators were seized from Saivom village of Tengnoupal district.
