Manipur: Volence Started On September 1 is Increasing

An atmosphere of fear and terror is being witnessed once again in Manipur. The violence that started in the state on September 1 is increasing again and on Monday (September 2), there was a drone attack in Imphal for the second consecutive day.

Three people were injured in Imphal West in this attack by the militants, while an Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) bunker was vandalized in Imphal East

The attack on Monday came a day after a spate of drone attacks on Sunday, when militants attacked Kotruk, a village inhabited by the Meitei people in West Imphal. One woman was killed and 16 people were injured in the attack.

Giving information about this attack, the police officer said that this attack took place at 5 pm during a shootout between Chirang district (where the population of Senjam Meitei is high) and Harothel district (where the Kuki population is dominant).

At around 6:30 pm, a bomb fell on the house of two siblings, injuring them, and another person was also injured in this attack.

The two injured have been identified as Wathan Sanatombi and Wathan Sanatomba, both were injured after the attack, after which they were immediately taken to the hospital in Imphal. Along with this, it was also informed that some unidentified people also attacked a post of India Reserve Battalion (IRB) located in Sagolmang in North Imphal district at 4 am.

A woman was killed and her 12-year-old daughter was seriously injured in the attacks in Manipur on Sunday. It is being said that these attacks were carried out by militants.

However, after two consecutive days of drone attacks, the entire city has been devastated and fear and panic has increased among the people, after which people of civil society groups have started raising questions. Civil society groups say that when police and force are deployed in the area, then why and how are drone attacks still happening, why are they not being controlled.

BJP MLA from Manipur Rajkumar Emo Singh has started asking questions to the central government after the drone attacks for the second consecutive day. He said, if the force is not able to stop the attacks in Manipur, then the central government should remove all the forces from the state.

Rajkumar Imo Singh wrote a letter to Home Minister Amit Shah, in which he said that even the 60 thousand plus forces deployed in Manipur are not able to ensure peace, hence it is better that all these deployed forces, who are just acting as mute spectators, should be removed.

After the attacks in Manipur, the Home Department had said on Sunday, "Whatever attacks took place on innocent villagers, whoever started these attacks will definitely be punished." It was also said that these attacks in Manipur have taken place at a time when the government is working to bring peace there
