MCC Comes Into Force: Panchayat Election Declared in Tripura

Three-tier Panchayat Elections in Tripura will be held on August 8 and counting of the vote to be held on August 12. State Election Commissioner of Tripura Sharadindu Chowdhury  announced it in a press conference at the Civil Secretariat on Wednesday.

Tripura has 8 Zilla Parishads, 50 Panchayat Samitis and 589 Gram Panchayats under Three-tier Panchayat. There are a total of 12 lakh 95 thousand 86 voters in Three-tier Panchayat. 6 lakh 59 thousand 13 male, 6 lakh 36 thousand 62 female and 11 voters of the third gender will exercise their right to vote in the panchayat elections in 35 blocks of the state. 

The state election commissioner informed that the panchayat election notification will be issued on July 11. He said that the submission of nomination papers will start as soon as the notification is issued.

The last date for submission of nomination papers is July 18. Scrutiny is on July 19 and withdrawal of nomination papers on July 22. He said that voting will be held on August 8 and the results will be announced on August 12. He added that the electoral process should be completed by August 17. Model Code of Conduct already in force as the election has been declared
