Modi Reviews West Asia Crisis, Focus on Supplies

Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a high-level meeting to assess the evolving conflict in West Asia, triggered by the ongoing tensions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran. The review focused on critical sectors including petroleum, crude oil, natural gas, electricity, and fertilizers.

The meeting was attended by key members of the Union Cabinet, including Amit Shah, Nirmala Sitharaman, Jagat Prakash Nadda, Hardeep Singh Puri, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, and Ashwini Vaishnaw, among other senior officials.

Deliberations centered on maintaining uninterrupted supply chains, strengthening logistics, and ensuring efficient distribution of essential commodities, with the objective of preventing any disruption to the public.

Amid global uncertainty, India has continued to secure energy supplies. A cargo vessel carrying liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) recently arrived at Mangalore Port from Texas, USA, while another shipment of crude oil reached the country from Russia. In the past week alone, nearly five vessels transporting gas and crude oil have docked at Indian ports, underscoring efforts to safeguard energy security.
