Mohammad Yunus Takes Oath As The Head Of The Interim Govt of Bangladesh

Nobel Prize winner Mohammad Yunus has taken oath as the head of the interim government of Bangladesh on Thursday. The swearing-in ceremony was organized at Bangabhavan, the official residence of the President in the capital Dhaka. 

Mohammad Yunus reached Bangabhavan for the oath and then he took the oath of office and secrecy. 

Along with him, 16 other colleagues have also taken oath, which includes 2 women and 2 Hindus.

Amidst the ongoing violence in the country, 16 other people have been included to assist Mohammad Yunus, who became the head of the new interim government. Political parties were not given representation in it. 

Along with Yunus, 16 people including BELA CEO Saida Rizwana Hasan, women activist Farida Akhtar, Brigadier (Retired) Sakhawat Hussain and former Foreign Secretary Tauheed Hussain have been included in the Advisory Council.

After the formation of the interim government, PM Modi congratulated Yunus on Twitter and said, "My best wishes to Professor Mohammad Yunus on assuming his new responsibility. We hope that normalcy will be restored soon, ensuring the safety of Hindus and all other minority communities. India is committed to working with Bangladesh to fulfill the shared aspirations of the people of both countries for peace, security and development."

The special thing is that two Hindus have also been included in the interim government. Supradip Chakma (Chairman of Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board (CHTDB) and Professor Bidhan Ranjan Roy (Director of Psychiatry Department of National Institute of Mental Health and Hospital) have been included. Yunus, who received the Nobel Prize in 2006, was appointed the head of the interim government after President Mohammad Shahabuddin dissolved the Parliament.

Diplomats from Britain, Japan, China, Philippines, Iran, Argentina, Qatar, Netherlands and United Arab Emirates were present at the swearing-in ceremony. 

However, not a single member of Awami League was seen in this ceremony. Earlier, world-renowned economist Mohammad Yunus returned home today to take oath as the head of the interim government.

World-renowned economist Muhammad Yunus arrived home from Paris today to take oath as the head of the interim government. 

He had to take oath as the head of the interim government as Bangladesh is going through an unprecedented crisis after the fall of the Awami League government led by Sheikh Hasina.

Students were protesting against reservation for the past several days, but on Monday 5th August this protest became very violent and Sheikh Hasina had to resign from the post of Prime Minister. 

Along with resigning, she also left the country. She is currently staying at an unknown place in Delhi. It is believed that she will stay in Delhi for the next few days
