Monsoon Session's Third Day: Opposition To Make PM Modi's UK Visit As An Issue

Wednesday is the third day of the Monsoon Session of Parliament. There are chances of uproar by the opposition in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha today as well. PM Modi also left for Britain at 5 am, he is on a two-day tour. The opposition can make the PM's foreign tour a big issue during the Monsoon Session. Because the opposition wants an answer from the PM in the House on Operation Sindoor.

Several opposition MPs on Tuesday gave notices to move adjournment motions in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, demanding a discussion on the issue of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists in Bihar. AAP MP Sanjay Singh has given a notice of motion in the Rajya Sabha to discuss the 'constitutional and electoral implications' of SIR. It may be discussed today.

On Tuesday, the second day of the monsoon session, opposition MPs protested inside and outside both the houses over the scrutiny of voters' list in Bihar, Special Intensive Revision (SIR). The MPs also demanded the PM's reply and discussion in the House on issues like Pahalgam attack, Operation Sindoor.

Opposition creates ruckus over Bihar voter list:

On Tuesday, Lok Sabha proceedings were adjourned till 12 noon just minutes after they began. Lok Sabha proceedings resumed amid uproar from the opposition, but were adjourned again shortly after till 2 pm.

Several leaders, including Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, stood on the steps of Parliament House at Makar Dwar and protested against Bihar SIR. Similarly, opposition MPs in Rajya Sabha raised slogans demanding a discussion on the scrutiny of voters' list in Bihar.

Discussion on Operation Sindoor next week, PM will respond:

There will be a discussion in Parliament next week on Operation Sindoor in the Monsoon Session. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will respond. During the discussion, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will intervene on questions raised on the operation and Home Minister Amit Shah will intervene on questions raised on the Pahalgam attack.

The time for discussion on Operation Sindoor has been fixed for 16 hours in Lok Sabha and 9 hours in Rajya Sabha. Before the discussion begins in Lok Sabha, a resolution will be passed by the ruling party. In this, the valour and bravery of the army will be discussed. After this, the discussion will begin. In this, MPs of all parties will be given a chance to speak.

It is believed that the intervention of the Defence Minister and the Home Minister will be of 50-60 minutes. 

There have been very few occasions in the parliamentary history during discussions when two senior ministers intervened on an issue and then the PM responded. 

According to sources, the PM will respond to the discussion and the resolution presented on the bravery of the army will be passed unanimously by the entire House.

According to the report Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will answer the questions raised regarding the security context of the operation. During the discussion, the issue of lapses regarding the Pahalgam attack will also be raised. Therefore, Home Minister Amit Shah will answer the questions raised regarding the arrangements.

The monsoon session will last for 32 days:

The monsoon session of Parliament will run from 21 July to 21 August, i.e. for a total of 32 days. During this period, 18 meetings will be held and more than 15 bills will be introduced. Due to Independence Day celebrations, there will be no proceedings of Parliament on 13-14 August.

The central government will introduce 8 new bills in the monsoon session, while 7 pending bills will be discussed. These include bills like Manipur GST Amendment Bill 2025, Income Tax Bill, National Sports Governance Bill.
