Need to Strengthen The Security of Tripura Due to Present Situation in Bangladesh: Chief Minister

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Saturday asked various agencies to enhance security and surveillance in the state in view of the current situation in Bangladesh.

The chief minister, after inaugurating the state's first cyber police station, said "Tripura is surrounded by Bangladesh on three sides and hence there was a need to strengthen security."

He said, "We all are aware of the current situation in Bangladesh. There is a need to increase security. The northeastern state has been turned into a corridor for drug smuggling. Infiltration from across the border is also another problem."

Saha said, "There are reports that a section of people go close to the international border (Indian side) and interact with people living on the other side of the international border. The situation may get worse once artificial intelligence-enabled 5G service becomes available."

Referring to the change in the nature of conventional warfare during 'Operation Sindoor', the Chief Minister said that the conflict (with Pakistan) did not see the presence of artillery and forces.

"Modern warfare requires one click," he said.

Saha said, "Mobile phone has become more dangerous than AK-47 rifle. Advanced technology has changed the nature of fighting, conflict or war."

Describing cybercrime as a kind of shadow war, he said security forces need to fight criminals digitally to prevent fraudulent activities.

Stressing on making people aware about cyber fraud activities, Saha said that security agencies also need to upgrade their capacity.
