Neeraj Chopra Wins Gold Ahead Of Paris Olympic

India's Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra won the gold medal at the Paavo Nurmi Games 2024 in Finland on Tuesday, June 18.

Neeraj Chopra made a strong comeback in the javelin throw event. Neeraj Chopra won the event with his best throw of 85.97 meters.

Chopra was playing in his third event this season and could not participate in the Ostrava Golden Spike Athletics Meet in Czechia last month due to injury.

But the reigning Olympic champion is back with a performance that will make him happy ahead of the Paris Olympics next month.

Neeraj Chopra threw 85.97m in his third attempt which was enough for the defending Olympic champion to win the gold in Finland.

Neeraj started the event with a throw of 83.62m and maintained the lead after the first round. He was pushed to second place by Finland's Oliver Helander after the second round as Helander threw his javelin to 83.96m. But the Indian regained the lead in the third attempt.

Neeraj Chopra threw his javelin to 85.97 meters and was completely ahead in this match. Another Finnish athlete Toni Keranen came close to Chopra with a throw of 84.19 meters, but he was 1.78 meters behind.

Apart from this, no other player challenged Neeraj Chopra. Max Dehing of Germany could have been a challenge for Neeraj Chopra in this event. The 19-year-old player made headlines earlier this year when he joined the 90 meter throw club by throwing 90.61 meters. But he was not in rhythm in Finland.

Dehing threw the best throw of 79.84 meters in his first attempt out of his three valid throws. He finished seventh among eight players.
