Neeraj Chopra Wins Third Consecutive Silver In Diamond League

Neeraj Chopra finished second in the Diamond League Final 2025. This is Chopra's third consecutive silver medal in the Diamond League. He threw 85.01 meters.
In the final held on Thursday at the Letzigrund Stadium in Zurich, Switzerland, Germany's Julian Weber won the gold with a brilliant throw of 91.51 meters. Meanwhile, Keshorn Walcott of Trinidad and Tobago won the bronze with 84.95 meters.
Neeraj threw 84.35 meters in the first attempt. After this, the second throw was 82 meters. After this, he fouled three times in a row. In the end, Neeraj threw 85.01 meters and finished second.
Earlier, Neeraj had finished first in the Diamond League finals at the same stadium three years ago i.e. in 2022.
At the same time, he had to be content with being the runner-up in 2023 and 2024. In the current season, he participated in 7 competitions, in which he won 4 times and was the runner-up thrice.
Talking about this season, Neeraj started with a bang. In May, he threw a distance of more than 90 meters for the first time by throwing 90.23 meters in Doha.
He scored 88.44 meters in the first attempt, while the second throw was invalid. Then Neeraj made the best throw of his career in the third attempt.
Earlier, his best throw was 89.94 meters, which he achieved in the 2022 Diamond League.
However, Neeraj finished second in the Doha Diamond League. Julian Weber of Germany finished first with a throw of 91.06 meters and Peters Anderson of Grenada finished third with 85.64 meters.
In June, he finished first in Paris with an effort of 88.16 meters. He ensured victory by throwing 88.16 meters in the first round itself. Earlier, he had thrown 90.23 meters and was in second place.
At the Paris Diamond League, Germany's Julian Weber finished second with a best throw of 87.88 meters. Brazil's Mauricio Luiz da Silva secured the third position with a throw of 86.62 meters.
The Diamond League is an athletics (track and field) tournament consisting of 16 events (men and women) of athletics. It is held every year in different cities of the world.
The Diamond League athletics series is held from May to September each year and the season concludes with the Diamond League Final.
The number of competitions in a Diamond League season is usually 14, including the final, but this number sometimes changes.
In each event, the top-8 players get points, the first-ranked player gets 8 points and the 8th-ranked player gets one point.
After 13 events, the points of all players are counted. Players finishing in the top-10 positions get a place in the Diamond League final. The winning player gets the Diamond League winner's trophy and a cash prize.
Neeraj Chopra will defend his title at the World Athletics Championships to be held in Tokyo from September 13 to 21. He won the gold medal in Budapest last season with a score of 88.17 meters.
