New Date: NEET PG Exam Now To Be Conducted on 11 August 2024

The National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has released the notice of the new exam date of NEET PG. This exam will now be conducted on 11 August 2024. The exam will be conducted in two shifts. The new date of NEET PG has been announced after reviewing the SOP and protocol.

More information related to the NEET PG exam to be held in two shifts will be given soon on the official website of the board natboard.edu.in. Candidates who had applied for the Postgraduate Medical Entrance Exam (NEET PG) and were to appear for the exam on June 23 can check the notice of the new exam date by visiting the official website of NBE.

Actually, NEET PG was scheduled to be held on June 23, which was postponed less than 12 hours before the scheduled time on June 22, citing an attempt to violate the integrity of the exam amid the NEET UG and UGC NET paper leak controversy.

After the cancellation of the exam, NBEMS President Abhijat Sheth while talking to the news agency had said, "As far as NEET PG is concerned, the integrity of this exam was never in doubt. For the last seven years, we have successfully conducted it till now. Due to the recent events, what has happened is that there were a lot of concerns in the student communities about all these types of examinations and in response to this, the government has once again decided to ensure that the sanctity and security of the examination should be maintained." He had said that after reviewing the necessary SOPs and protocols, the new date of the exam will be announced.

Earlier, NBE had issued a notice advising the candidates not to fall prey to unscrupulous agents/brokers who falsely claim to help in any way through fake emails/SMS or forged documents or social media. NBEMS does not send any email or SMS to candidates regarding getting good marks in any examination conducted by NBEMS. Please check the information received through SMS in the name of NBEMS with the updates on the NBEMS website or email.

Meanwhile,

The central government told the Supreme Court on Friday, July 5, that cancelling the NEET-UG exam would not be logical. This would put lakhs of honest candidates who took this exam in serious danger. The National Testing Agency (NTA) said that it would also not be good for the career prospects of those who cleared it.

The Centre and the NTA, in an affidavit filed in response to a petition, said that the CBI has been entrusted with the task of investigating the alleged irregularities or discrepancies in the examination.

The NEET exam was held on May 5. After this, there were allegations of paper leak and irregularities. There was also a controversy over giving grace marks to 1563 students. The National Testing Agency (NTA) canceled the exam of these candidates and conducted the exam again.

After this, three major exams in the country - NCET, UGC NET and CSIR UGC NET were cancelled in 9 days. NEET counseling is starting from July 6.

NTA said, 'Cancelling the NEET-UG 2024 exam would be against the larger public interest. The alleged incidents of paper leak have no effect on the operation of the examination. This exam has been conducted with complete fairness and confidentiality. Claims of large-scale irregularities and irregularities during the exam are completely false and misleading. They have no basis.

NTA admitted that the alleged irregularities took place only in Patna and Godhra centres. The entire exam should not be cancelled based on individual instances. It is wrong to say that students scoring high are from only a few centres.

The results of students involved in the irregularities have been withheld and they have been issued show cause notices for punitive action and expulsion.

All the 26 petitions filed in the Supreme Court on the issue of NEET paper leak, irregularities in the exam and grace marks will be heard on July 8. Out of these, 22 petitions have been filed by students, teachers, coaching institutes and welfare associations. Whereas 4 petitions have been filed by the National Testing Agency.

Apart from this, 56 students from Gujarat have filed a petition in the Supreme Court on July 4 against ReNEET. The students say that most of them had given the exam with two years of hard work and 100% dedication. In such a situation, conducting the NEET exam again is not in the interest of the students.

This violates their fundamental rights under Article 14 and 21A.
On July 3, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke on NEET while responding to the discussion on the motion of thanks on the President's address in the Rajya Sabha.

He said, 'The issue of paper leak is very sensitive. The opposition played politics on the paper leak. I want to say without hesitation that I have given a free hand to the investigating agencies to take action against the corrupt. The government will not interfere anywhere. No corrupt person will escape, this is Modi's guarantee. Earlier on July 2 too, the Prime Minister had mentioned the NEET paper leak case in the Parliament.

On June 30, the CBI team reached Beur Jail in Patna in the NEET paper leak case. 13 accused were questioned here. The CBI team stayed in the jail for about 3 hours and questioned all the accused by making them sit face to face. CBI has arrested Dr. Ehsanul Haq, Principal of Hazaribagh's Oasis School, Manish Prakash, A shut kWh , Chintu and Mukesh. At the same time, a total of 7 accused have been taken on remand.
