NRC Is Necessary To Differentiate Between Indians And Infiltrators: Assam CM

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday said that it is necessary to prepare a document like NRC (National Register of Citizens) to differentiate between Indians and infiltrators. After visiting the Jagannath Temple in Puri, Sarma said that the Assam government has decided that to get an Aadhar card in the state, any person will have to register his name in the NRC. If the applicant's name is not in the NRC, he will not get an Aadhar card.

Sarma said that a document like NRC should be prepared so that it can be easily identified who is an Indian and who is an intruder. He said that it is difficult to fence the Bangladesh border in Assam and West Bengal as there are many rivers here. The border can be secured by using technology.

He said that the Government of India is making technical efforts for border security in Assam and Tripura, but the West Bengal government is not cooperating. If Bengal cooperates, infiltration can be stopped. Regarding the future of BJD in Odisha, Sarma said that the era of BJD is now over and the BJP government will remain in Odisha for at least 50 years.

Regarding the attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh, Sarma said that it is very unfortunate and worrying. I hope that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will definitely take diplomatic steps for the safety of Hindus in Bangladesh. The Prime Minister had sent the Foreign Secretary to Bangladesh. It is hoped that this effort will restore peace in the country. Sarma said that Rahul Gandhi and Congress have never stood with the Hindu community. They will not stand with Hindus in future also.

Regarding one nation, one election, Sarma said that assembly and parliament elections are being held at different times in Assam. During elections, development work is usually disrupted for almost the whole year. Therefore, one nation-one election is necessary. For this, a constitutional amendment is needed with a two-thirds majority in both houses of Parliament. The Prime Minister will definitely do this
