BJP has expressed deep concern about the increasing population of Muslims in the country and its impact on the reservation given to SC, ST and OBC.
The ruling party BJP says that if Congress comes to power, it will try its best to provide reservation to the minority community.
BJP has blamed Congress for such a decline in the population of Hindus in the country.
The ruling BJP in the Center has given this reaction to a recent report by the Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council (EAC-PM), which states that between 1950 and 2015, the share of Hindu population in India has declined by 7.82 percent while that of Muslims has declined by 7.82 percent. The population share has increased by 43.15 percent.
BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said that this is worrying but a fact known for a decade. If you see the 1951 census, Hindu population was 88 percent and Muslims were only 9.5 percent. But in the 2011 census, the population of Hindus decreased from 80 percent to 79.8 percent while the percentage of Muslim population increased to 14.5.
He said that the question arises that at the speed with which the population of Muslims is increasing and Congress is bent on giving reservation to Muslims on the basis of population, they will definitely cut the reservation of SC, ST and OBC.
If Congress comes to power, it will keep increasing the reservation for Muslim population from time to time. The population of Muslims is increasing rapidly because they do many marriages. The share of Muslims in reservation will also continue to increase due to conversion and infiltration. Congress should answer this big question, he said.
Senior BJP leader and Union Minister Rajib Chandrashekhar said that the EAC-PM report raises many questions. The population of a particular community is increasing to such an extent that it is changing the demography of India. In these circumstances certain questions arise which must be asked and answered. After all, what percentage of the increase in Muslim population is due to religious conversion and infiltration?

Leaders of opposition parties have accused the BJP of dividing the country on communal lines with the report of the Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council (EAC-PM).
CPI general secretary D. Raja and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav rejected the central government's population report, saying it is done to divide votes. D. Raja raised questions on the timing of the report and asked why this report was brought only during the elections.
Tejashwi said that BJP is trying to spread hatred.
