Opposition Reacts Over The Introduce of Unified Pension Scheme

Congress has targeted the central government's decision to introduce Unified Pension Scheme (UPS). 

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said - U in UPS means U-turn of Modi government. Kharge said on X - After the results of the Lok Sabha elections on June 4, the power of the people has prevailed over the arrogance of power of the PM.

Kharge said, 'The government withdrew the decision of long term capital gain/indexation in the first budget. The Wakf (Amendment) Bill was sent to JPC (Joint Parliamentary Committee). After this, the Broadcasting Bill, the decision of lateral entry to higher posts of UPSC was also withdrawn. We will continue to ensure accountability of the government. We will continue to protect 140 crore Indians from this government.'

Actually, on Saturday (24 August), the central government has brought the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) in place of the New Pension Scheme (NPS). The scheme will come into effect from April 1, 2025. This will benefit 23 lakh central employees.

AAP said- BJP has come to its senses now. AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj said- BJP has come to its senses now. BJP will now take back its other decisions like Agniveer Yojana soon. It has been proved that what the opposition was saying was correct. The central government was oppressing all the employees of the center. The employees of the central government voted against the BJP. Only after this, BJP has come to its senses.

Congress leader Rashid Alvi said- The work which the government should have done earlier, it is doing it now under pressure. The entire opposition is saying that the government should take a decision regarding pension. Retired employees should not get 50% of their salary (before retirement) but 100%. You are making an announcement for such employees who retire after working for the country. The central government is also creating confusion through UPS.

Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction) leader Anand Dubey said- The government has brought UPS due to pressure from the opposition. This time BJP won only 240 seats. That is why they have brought a scheme for the employees of the Central Government.
