Paddy Purchasing In MSP From June 15: Tripura Food Minister

Tripura government will start purchasing paddy directly from farmers from June 15. Food and Supplies Minister Sushanta Chowdhury gave this information on Monday.

Chowdhary said that paddy will be purchased at the minimum support price of Rs 21.83 per kilogram and this process will continue till July 15.

Speaking to the reporters, Chowdhury said, "The state government has decided to buy 15,000 metric tonnes of paddy from farmers in 31 blocks of six districts at the minimum support price of Rs 21.83 per kilogram. The process will begin from June 15 and continue till July 15."

Apart from Food and Supplies Minister Sushant Choudhary, Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath, Cooperation Minister Shukla Charan Notia will flag off the paddy procurement process in Julaibari of South Tripura district. With this, paddy procurement will continue in the state for a month.

Chowdhury said that the purchase of paddy has brought a big change in the economic condition of the farmers. He said that the amount will be deposited in the farmers' accounts within 24 hours of purchase.

He said that due to the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, the Central Government could not declare Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport as an international airport.

He said, 'After the Home Ministry provides immigration facility to Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, international service from Agartala to Chittagong in Bangladesh will begin.'
