Paris Olympic: Nisha, Aman Secured Quota in Wrestling

Aman Sehrawat has secured the sixth Olympic quota for India in wrestling. He had secured the first Paris Olympic quota for men in the ongoing World Olympic Qualifiers in Istanbul.

Earlier, among women, Nisha Dahiya had achieved fifth quota in 68 kg weight category.

Before Nisha, Vinesh Phogat in 50 kg weight, Akhil Panghal in 53 kg weight, Anshu Malik in 57 kg weight and Hrithik Hooda in 76 kg weight have achieved Olympic quota.

Former Under-23 World Champion Aman Sehrawat defeated Chongsong Han of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea 12-2 in the semi-finals of 57 kg weight of the World Olympic Qualifier.

Earlier, he entered the quarter-finals by defeating Olympian Georgi Vangelov of Bulgaria 10-4 on the basis of five takedowns. He then sealed his quota place with a 12-2 win over Ukraine's Andrey Yatsenko.

Deepak Punia, who represented the country in the Tokyo Olympics, missed the Olympic quota in the 68 Krilo Grove weight category. Asian Games silver medalist Deepak Punia lost 6-4 to China's Xueshen Lin despite leading 3-0 early.

Zhushen Lin later bowed out after losing in the quarterfinals, ending Deepak Punia's hopes of securing an Olympic quota through the repechage.
