Paris Paralympics: Rubina Francis Wins Bronze In Air Pistol SH1 Event

Shooter Rubina Francis has won the first medal for India on the third day of Paris Paralympics 2024. 

Rubina Francis won the bronze medal in the final of the women's 10m air pistol SH1 event. 

This is her first Paralympic medal. At the same time, India has a total of 5 medals in Paris Paralympics 2024. Out of these, 4 medals have come in shooting. Rubina has won this medal with 211.1 points.

Rubina Francis was in third place after Stage 1 of the final. She scored a total of 97.6 (10.7, 10.3, 10.3, 9.7, 9.0, 8.4, 10.0, 9.8, 9.6, 9.8) in 10 shots of this stage. Rubina Francis continued her excellent game in Stage 2. This medal is very historic for Rubina Francis as well as India. In fact, she has become the first Indian woman to win a Paralympic medal in pistol shooting.


Rubina Francis, a para pistol shooter from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, has shown strong performance for India in the recent past. 

She has brought laurels to India in many events before this as well. Earlier, Rubina Francis won the silver medal in the 10m air pistol event at the World Shooting Para Sports World Cup-2023. 

She has also won the gold medal in the P-6 air pistol mixed team event at the Parashooting World Cup. Let us tell you that Rubina's mother Sunita Francis is a nurse in Jabalpur's maternity home, while her father Simon works as a motor mechanic.

Shooter Avani Lekhara opened India's account in Paris Paralympics 2024. Avani won the gold medal in 10m air rifle SH1. At the same time, Mona Agarwal won the bronze medal in this event. 

After this, Preeti Pal won the third medal for India. Preeti Pal won the bronze medal for the country in the 100m T35 category. Preeti is also the first Indian athlete to win a medal in a track event.
