Parliament Adjourned As Opposition Ruckus Over Manipur, Adani Issue

The proceedings of both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha had to be adjourned soon on Monday till November 27 (Wednesday). As soon as the proceedings of Parliament started, it had to be adjourned due to disruptions. Opposition MPs were demanding discussion on many issues, including the allegations of corruption against industrialist Gautam Adani Group.

As soon as the proceedings of the House began in the Rajya Sabha, the opposition MPs started demanding a discussion on the issue of Adani Group. Due to this, the proceedings of the House were first halted till 11:45 am and then when the opposition remained adamant on its demands, the proceedings were adjourned for the whole day.

In Lok Sabha, Speaker Om Birla adjourned the proceedings of the House till 12 noon on the first day after paying tribute to the deceased members. Then as soon as the proceedings of the House started, the opposition members started demanding discussion on various issues, after which the proceedings of the lower house were also adjourned for the whole day. Now the proceedings of both the houses will begin on Wednesday, 27 November at 11 am.

Meanwhile, Congress MP Karti Chidambaram said, "I don't know why the House was adjourned. We went, the national anthem was sung, tributes were read and it was adjourned. I don't know why the speaker was in such a hurry to adjourn the House. Demanding an adjournment motion is a normal parliamentary tradition.
