Pending Cases Are Big challenge For Judiciary: President Murmu

President Draupadi Murmu on Sunday (September 1) said that pending cases and backlogs are a big challenge for the judiciary. When court verdicts in cases like rape take a generation to pass, the common man feels that there is no sensitivity left in the judicial process.

President Murmu attended the valedictory event of the National Conference of District Judiciary at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. It was here that she said this.

Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal also attended this event. Murmu also released the flag and symbol of the Supreme Court in this program.

Murmu said that in order to ensure immediate justice in courts, we will have to end the culture of delaying the hearing of cases. All necessary efforts should be made for this. It is the responsibility of all judges of this country to protect justice.

The President said that the stress level of a common man increases as soon as he enters the courtroom. He named it 'Black Coat Syndrome' and suggested that it should be studied. He also expressed happiness over the increasing number of women officers in the judiciary.

The President said that the people of the village consider the judiciary to be divine because they get justice there. There is a saying - there is delay in God's house but no injustice. But for how long? We have to think about this.

By the time someone gets justice, the smile on their face has vanished, in many cases, their life is over. There is a need to think deeply about this.

Murmu said that I have been told that there has been improvement in timely management, infrastructure, facilities, training and manpower in recent times. But a lot still needs to be done in these areas. I am happy to see that the number of women in the selection committee has increased in the last few years. Due to this, the number of women in the selection committee has increased by 50%.

Right now our judiciary is facing many challenges, for which all responsible people will have to work together. For example, matters related to evidence and witnesses should be resolved jointly by the judiciary, government and police administration
