PM Modi Calls to UK Counterpart Keir Starmer

PM Narendra Modi on Saturday spoke to the new British Prime Minister Keir Starmer over the phone and congratulated him. The two leaders discussed further deepening the historic India-UK relationship and strategic partnership. 

PM Modi and his British counterpart agreed to work towards early conclusion of the India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA). 

PM Modi has also invited the new UK PM Starmer to visit India soon. During this, PM Modi appreciated the contribution of the people of the Indian community in the social, economic and political development of Britain.

Notable the Labour Party has won a majority in the general election held in Britain on July 4. The Conservative Party has suffered its worst defeat ever. Labour Party leader Keir Starmer has officially become the new Prime Minister of Britain after meeting King Charles III
