Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday evening convened a crucial meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) in the wake of the Delhi Red Fort bombings. The meeting was attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
According to sources, the CCS meeting focused on the emerging terror threat posed by a newly uncovered white-collar module of the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror group. The module, reportedly comprising doctors, professors, and women operatives, was in direct contact with handlers in Pakistan.
This was not the first such security review in recent months. Prime Minister Modi had also convened a CCS meeting after the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 and prior to the launch of Operation Sindoor.
PM Modi Visits Red Fort Blast Victims at LNJP Hospital
Earlier in the day, upon returning from his Bhutan visit, the Prime Minister went directly from the airport to LNJP Hospital to meet those injured in the November 10 blast near the Red Fort.
During his visit, he interacted with the victims and medical staff, assuring them that the perpetrators of the conspiracy would be brought to justice.
The Red Fort blast claimed 12 lives and left 21 injured. Investigations have revealed that several medical professionals have been arrested from Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, and Uttar Pradesh in connection with the attack, marking a disturbing trend of radicalization among educated professionals.
