PM Modi Speaks To Putin Over Phone

Four days after his Ukraine visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spoken to Russian President Vladimir Putin. Modi shared this information on social media platform X on Tuesday.
He wrote, "Talked to Putin about strengthening the India-Russia special and strategic partnership. Also shared thoughts with him on the Russia-Ukraine war."
This is the second time in 2 months that PM Modi has spoken to Russian President Putin about stopping the war. Earlier, Modi had visited Russia on 8 July. Even then, the same issue was discussed between the two. PM Modi had said, "This is not the time for war."
PM Modi said that he also informed Putin about his recent visit to Ukraine. He reiterated India's commitment to find a peaceful solution to the war.
A day earlier, Prime Minister Modi also spoke to US President Joe Biden. Prime Minister Modi reiterated India's support for peace and stability in Ukraine. The issue of Bangladesh was also discussed between Modi and Biden. Modi and Biden emphasized on ensuring the safety of minorities, especially Hindus, in Bangladesh.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had talked to Indian journalists last week. He had said that the second peace conference should be held in India to resolve the Ukraine war. Zelensky had talked to PM Modi regarding this. In fact, Ukraine is trying to hold the second peace conference in the Global South countries.
Zelensky had said that apart from India, talks are also going on with Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey for organizing the second peace conference. He said that the peace conference will be held in the country which is interested in it.
Earlier, the first Ukraine peace conference was held in Switzerland in June, in which Russia did not participate. Now Ukraine is insisting on holding a peace summit once again to put forward its conditions for peace and to include representatives from Russia in it.
PM Modi was on a visit to Ukraine on 23 August last week. During this, in a meeting with President Volodymyr Zelensky, Modi had said, 'India has always been in favor of peace. I met Russian President Putin a few days ago. Then I said to him face to face in front of the media that this is not the time for war.'
Modi and Zelensky had a meeting for about 3 hours at the Mariinsky Palace in Ukraine. He invited Zelensky to visit India. Modi also went to the Ukraine National Museum with Zelensky, where he paid tribute to the children killed in the war. He also placed a doll at the children's memorial
